Chris Fettin Inc. turns 1 Year Old
Wow, it’s a big day! Of course it’s Valentine’s Day—cards, chocolate, balloons and all that stuff—but it also quite appropriately marks the one year anniversary of my freelance business going official and incorporating as Chris Fettin Inc.
It’s been quite a year. I have grown as a designer in so many ways—working with new clients, taking on larger and more impactful projects, and learning new skills beyond my wildest dreams. I’ve launched version 1.0 of my humble website which you see before you right now. I also moved into my very own studio space in San Francisco’s Media Gulch neighborhood (don’t know where that is? Don’t worry, I didn’t either).
It hasn’t always been easy. There is no instruction manual for transforming a freelance lifestyle into a sustainable business and the world is full of designers. There have been many learning moments; some anticipated and some unexpected. But I have grown from all of them and come out stronger. I always tell people that I’m not a freelancer, I’m a small business owner. I’m in this for the long haul, and I’m committed to continuing to grow both personally and as a business.
There is still so much work to be done, and so much that I want to create and accomplish.. this really is just the beginning. I am so grateful to all of my clients new and old that continue to partner with me year after year, project after project. I also have an incredible group of trusted advisors, friends and family that have supported me from the moment I left my last full time job to go out on my own.
At the end of the day, I am passionate what I do. I love the new challenges that continue to land on my desk and keep me on my toes. After all, the ability to solve problems is what makes a designer a designer.
